El Recorral – beautiful wooden sculptures

Welcome to «A Year Abroad» – a little insight into parts of our life abroad. We share some of our experiences from our leap following a dream. Feel free to follow us.

The hidden art of the pine forest

As I wrote in my first post about El Recorral, this park is a fascinating place where you can find peace and at the same time get a cultural boost. In the main parts of the park, there is something new to see around every corner, whether you like birds, paintings or sculptures. I love things that are strange, unique and fun. And if I can enjoy these things in a quiet way and without a lot of noise around me, that is a big plus.

This park offers art on painted trash cans and beautiful wooden sculptures among the trees and water. With its artificial lakes, wildlife and different types of art, this park is a cool place to spend an afternoon or just go for a walk. Take a nice stroll on the paths in the park or wonder the hiking trails if you want

Tell a story while you enjoy

In the park you will find various animal sculptures, from birds to foxes. If you have children with you, you can walk around and make up amazing stories about the different animals. Or sit down on a bench surrounded by animals and just enjoy life.

This park reminds me that creativity and art are not limited to galleries or big city centers, but can be found along the streets you walk, in a park or on the walls of the subway. And I like that art meets everyday life in a way that is free for everyone!

As I said in the post about painted trash bins, this is a wonderful park to visit. Not only to look at the different artwork, but to enjoy the tranquility and peace of mind. Take your family for a stroll or spend some much needed time alone there, or bring some food and have a picnic. Say hi to others and maybe you’ll meet a new friend 🙂

Nature is healing. Breathing properly is healing. Walking or moving calmly is healing. Just letting go of everything for a moment has a healing effect on us. So let the world around you be for a while – in peace and quiet, in the sun, in the shade, in the drizzle and in silence. Turn off your phone and put away your airpods and headsets. Just be present in the moment! And as you move forward in life, take a piece of this healing feeling with you. Remember that inner peace cannot be chased or achieved in a hectic everyday life – you need breaks!

So if you like looking at art and fascinating things, or just want to peace and quiet – go for a walk in El Recorral the next time you are in the area.

That’s all for now! As you can imagine, our days vary from calm and boring to amazing and surprising. We are constantly exploring new places and experiencing new, exciting things. Feel free to follow us both here and on Instagram, where we post some pictures from our everyday lives.
